DOBA - Product images & Shopsite configuration

The product images from DOBA come in different sizes, and are typically large. When I try to resize the image at the product level they do not resize. It appears to be a issue when resizing a URL link? Is there a way to globaly accomplish this with out uploading the images to the shopsite image directory? (My product inventory is expected to be large).

The images come directly from Doba so there is no way to actually resize them without download them to your store.

Can this be accomplished by creating a custom Product templete with the default size for the product page images set at say width="80" height="80"?

Yes, that will accomplish your goal of making the images appear smaller on the pages. It may cause some distortion due to using this method, so test it out and see how it looks before implementing it site wide.
