setting up shipping by currency with USPS; error message

Postby mhesselein » Fri Sep 18, 2009 9:50 am

I am new to Shopsite and shopping carts. I am using Shopsite 10 Pro. Any help will be so very appreciated! (I have looked at past forum posts and in the help section of the software)

I am setting up shipping using currency and USPS (only shipper). When I put a product in the cart, I get this message:

"Shipping costs cannot be computed for some items in your cart. Please contact the merchant."

I have filled out my rate chart. I have a USPS user ID/Zip code entered. Test product information:
Weight = 0
Shipping Dimensions: Ship by weight only
(I don't have specific box dimensions, and the 3rd option is greyed out)
USPS container size: variable
No shipping charge: unchecked

What am I doing wrong? Thank you!

Why don't you try giving your test product a weight?

I did that, but...

then I got the xml message (indicating that I haven't activated the account with USPS) as well as the error message stating shipping charges couldn't be computed.

Since I am trying to ship by CURRENCY rather than weight, I didn't think this was the correct direction to go in.

USPS only ships by weight. They don't do it based on currency.

If you want to do it based on Currency then select the ShopSite Shipping by Currency option and configure the table for the currency ranges and shipping cost for each range. Make sure that your currency values don't over lap and don't have gaps in them. For example
From To
0.00 10.99
11.00 20.99

NOT
0.00 to 10.00
11.00 to 20.00

You can setup as many of the Options, Ground, Next Day etc as you need. Text can be change for those names under Preferences > Store Text > Shipping If you want to give them names like USPS First Class, USPS Priority etc you can do that.

IN the cart the shopper will be able to select which of the shipping options they want from the ones you configure.

That took care of it -- I knew I was fundamentally missing something. :D
