make a product unorderable

Is it possible to make products unorderable so that they can't be added to the cart?

Remove it from the database is the only sure way. If you leave it in the database and there is a link to it somewhere it will be possible to order it. You could use inventory tracking to prevent it from being actually ordered but it could still be placed in the cart.

If you need to keep the product info you could use the Copy function to make a copy of the product and then delete the original.

I clear the add to cart button.
Edit Product Layout, scroll down to "Button Customization" change the Add to Cart Button to none. If there is no button order can't be placed, but item still shows.
