Want UPS to calculate shipping on item separate from other p

How do I get a few select items in my store to be calculated for shipping separate from some items that may be grouped in a box? Most of my items are shipped by weight and can be combined. A few cannot but not matter what I have tried, UPS clumps the pricing together. What do I do?

If you are using the UPS integration (and not just ShopSite shipping named to be UPS) then Items that are assigned a package type will be computed separate from those that don't have the package type set.

So for items that can be combined do not assign a package type. And for those that need to be shipped separately do assign a package type.
