Word in coupon widow at shoppong cart will not change

Postby Peter Gregg » Tue Sep 15, 2009 7:08 am

Upgraded to Pro and love the coupon feature. Used it for the first time last night for a promotion.

Got the most orders from one email blast ever - yeah!!!

NOT ONE PERSON APPLIED THE COUPON - what, do I have the dumbest customers in the world???

Now I have a mess on my hands and have to hand refund each person a 10 or 20 percent amount depending on how much they ordered.

The coupon works fine - they are not hitting the recalculate button. There needs to be an APPLY COUPON button inside with the coupon entry box rather than having to find and use the Recalculate button on the other side of the screen.

Anyway, I tried to change the wording in the coupon box in the configure window and it will not change. I wanted to put in: ENTER COUPON AND PRESS RECALCULATE BUTTON

I typed in the new words and saved the change. It shows up in the configuration window properly when I go back to it to check, but it does not show up in the cart where the coupon area is when ordering. The old default message still shows up there, but the new words are in the configuration window. I use PayPal only.

What template are you using? It may be that the value is hard coded into the template.

That is a good question - I don't know where to see which template I am using. Can you tell me where to find that?

Here is a link to an item on my site, click add to cart and you can see what the cart looks like. If have any recommendations I am all ears :)

You mentioned in another post that even if a person does not click Recalculate the Checkout button will trigger the coupon code discount.

Since not one order came in with the discount applied, should I be questioning if it is working in real life? In playing with the cart window it shows up when I use the code. Weird huh. The coupon code I used is 1253021224 and it works when I try it.

I think I may have discovered the problem, but them again, maybe not.

For sure, the wording will not change in the coupon window, so that may be hard coded like you said.

But I may have discovered why no coupons got registered. I my email blast I posted the following:

Buy 1 get 10% off - coupon code# 1252989349
Buy 2 get 20% off - coupon code# 1253021224

So if a person bought 1 item and applied the 2 item coupon # to grab 20% off rather than the 10% off they were entitled to - voila - no coupon :)

So I will have to figure out how to do that kid of sale so people don't get confused - or selectively not read they have to buy 2 items to get 20%

Thanks Jim.

I checked the template and the wording is NOT hard coded so it should change if you change it.

By default the classy theme has a Button with "Apply Coupon" where you have the text. So make sure you have the option checked to have the button displayed.
