UPS Commercial/Residential

Does anyone have a work around for the UPS Commercial/ Residential issue. I hate the idea of charging every customer Residential rates; the alternative is taking a hit which often eats all the profit margins for low cost items.

I've seen some sites with a UPS Ground Residential AND a UPS Ground Commercial pull-down option.

We're currently using 9.0.2.3.

Well, the UPS residential fee is a flat charge on top of their commercial rates (more or less), so you could probably "fudge" it as follows:

Add an additional handling charge (controlled by a custom field checkbox and Javascript) to account for the residential surcharge.

So, you'd have a custom field checkbox for "residential address" and then use some javascript to add in the handling charge/residential surcharge based on the value of the checkbox (and possibly the shipping method selected).
