Links in Google Base

Postby hiamps » Sun Aug 02, 2009 5:35 pm

Why is it that when you click some of my products in google base it takes you to the product page and most just take you to the home page? When you click on "Tea Light Lily of the Valley" in google base it takes you right to the page it is on. Most don't and I can't see anything I have checked different....Must be a button I don't see please help.

How do you have your google product search configured? Merchandising > Google Services > Product Search > Configure > Product URL (Landing Page):

It can be one of 3 choices, a page the product is on, the moreinfo page or the search destination. If you select moreinfo page and the product doesn't have a moreinfo page it would go to the main store page.

Hmmm, checked and they are all set to "Page product is on" I went thru and changed the links manually on my order anywhere products but was hoping not to have to do that with my shopsite items. I can't find any diffences between the products that show the product and the ones that show the home page...

Are some of your products set as subproducts to others? If so they would not be directly assigned to a page and would therefore probably link to the main page of the store.

Thats the problem, subproducts. We started using subproducts because we couldn't figure out how to use drop downs and get the weight right in shopsite 8.3. Has this changed yet? Can we use drop downs and put a weight in for the product so we can have 1 product instead of 5 for each item?
I sell fragrance oils in 4 sizes, 1 oz, 4 oz, 1/2 lb and 1 lb. It would be nice to have 1 product with the option for each size but have the weight be correct for the size they purchase. The way I have it now takes up way too much space. http://www.swanscandles.com/store/Candl ... _oils.html
Any suggestions appriciated.

There has been no change in the way order options work with regard to weight.

What you could do is add all of the subproducts to a single page as individual items. Then the google feed would at least include a link to that page of your store.

Thanks but it would probably be easier to just power edit the bulk of the items to the first page they would show. Just in fragrance oils I would have over 500 products to have to sift thru...Then we have color......Thanks, maybe someday enough people will see a need for this feature.
