Help with HTML Editor

Postby hiamps » Sun Jul 05, 2009 9:20 pm

I just tried out the HTML Editor and ran into a problem. On http://swanscandles.com/store/candle_ma ... index.html I had a bunch of pictures that were links into different departments. They never lined up very well so I decided to use the editor to make them all the same size and in rows. Now my page is a bunch of HTML, what did I do wrong and how do I fix this so I can use the editor and fix my mistakes?

Did you add the html to the field when the html editor was active or when the field was still a text input box?

All I did was make some pictures line up better. I changed their sizes so they all lined up even. Didn't add any text or try and change anything else. Then I really screwed up by resetting all my attributes on my pictures thinking that had screwed up. Now we will have to redo half the website. Is it best to use the Editor to create pages and just use the Editor on pages made with it?

The build in html editor should be used to format information that is in a specific field . The template assigned to the page/product will then assemble those sections into the final html page. So you don't create a whole page in the editor just parts of it.

I understand that, the only changes I made were to some existing pictures in the Text 1 box. Basically I just used the little box around the edge of the pictures to make them all the same size. I didn't even move them. Then when I published you can see what happened. Why did that happen, I didn't add anything?

It looks like you pasted html text directly to the editor so it took it as text not html.

I copied the html that displays on your page into the text1 field of my store (when the editor was not active) and saved changes. I then when back into the page and opened the editor and everything looks as it should with the images displaying etc. I tried resizing some of the images in the editor view and they resized. When I exited the page and came back in things still look ok. So I'm not sure what you did but you could do as I described and it would fix it.

Thanks that got that page back, Guess I need to do more backups before I play with things.
