Product Type and taxonomy

Postby lordofdirt » Thu Apr 16, 2009 9:16 am

What is the proper way to include information into the product type of shopsite pro 10 products.

google shows a taxanomy for the product type attribute, just wondering if I should enter these values as text taxonomy:

"Electronics > Audio > Audio Accessories > MP3 Player Accessories","Health & Beauty > Healthcare > Biometric Monitors > Pedometers"

or xml:

<g:product_type>Arts & Entertainment > Musical Instruments > Keyboards</g:product_type>

A link to the information I was reading can be found here:

Yeah, enter it in as text. If there are characters in it that need to be escaped in the XML feed sent to Google Base, then ShopSite should already take care of those character conversions when generating the feed.

Code: Select all
<g:product_type><![CDATA[Health & Beauty > Health Care > Fitness & Nutrition > Vitamins & Supplements]]></g:product_type>

It doesn't appear to do that, I'll just enter in the text with the special characters.

thanks

Sure it does. It puts the info in a CDATA enclosure. Unescaped ampersands and left and right angle brackets are legal here.
