Google Base Feed Problems

Postby lordofdirt » Tue Apr 14, 2009 7:28 am

I got my Google API key and filled out all the information in the configuration, but when I create the feed shopsite says this:
Generating XML Data file... Done.
Waiting for Google to Validate Your feed ... Done.

and I get an error message:
gBase Response Code: 400
gBase Response Message:
Google Error Encountered

I'm using Shopsite Pro V.10. What can be wrong?

To answer you.

Yes, Shopsite seems to build the google site map on publish so, its related to actual pages that are published rather than when products are added to the sqlite database. So to answer your question the box must be clicked and the page must be published that they are assigned too for it to be added to the site map.

I never did get that working but found after the errors I could click cancel then save the Google Base Feed to notepad and submit it manually by just taking out some spaces at the top of the saved file, I named it froogle-bulk.xml and google was happy. I hope this helps....

What Submittal Method did you use? Coz for me, I encountered this error when I chose API, and my FTP user name and password is different from the one I created in my Google Base Account.

I used the API and downloaded the file from my computer. I got a little over 1900 on there seemed to work fine once I got the header right. Seems there were too many spaces, I can post the top part of mine if you need it to compare.

Bug that needs to be fixed

This is happening to me too. This is something that ShopSite needs to address. Can't really sell an automatic feature that isn't automatic :)

Same problem here

Every month I have to manually grab the XML file and remove the spaces at the beginning of the file, then send it to Google manually.

Hope there's a fix coming soon.

For the longest time I was having this same issue. I would submit my feed, but it just wouldn't go through successfully.

I can't remember a simple fix, but I simply re-did the setup process through Shopsite and Google Base from scratch, used the FTP method instead of API and it's been working great ever since.

It's been about 20 days since I got it working, and Google has already sent me roughly 160 extra clicks from search results. 160 extra targeted clicks for free? Not bad!

Thanks, I'll try that

Thanks. I'll give that a shot. I wound up downloading my database and creating my own tab delimited txt file and uploaded it myself to Google Base. That worked fine (and the extra hits are nice!) but it required a little clean up. I was able to id a couple of minor product info errors too. But it would be nice if it would work as advertised.
