FedEx shopsite calculation differs from Fedex site calc

Postby Steve.Horste » Fri Mar 13, 2009 10:40 am

I have shopsite 9.0.4.1 and the shipping cost calculation returned from FedEx is different from what I get if I enter the same parameters on the FedEx.com site.

Parameters are:
From: 98045 To: 85238
6x4x2 in.
0.8 lbs.
FedEx ground - Home delivery

FedEx.com says $7.52
Shopsite says $9.47

I don't have any handling charges or anything.

Does anyone know what could cause this?

Also, I trued UPS and it matches exactly.

The shipping rate in ShopSite is provided by FedEx not ShopSite so if you are seeing a difference it is because of some setting you have configured. Home vs Business deliver location, dropoff at FedEx vs pickup at your store etc all make a difference in the cost. So review your settings inShopSite and make sure they exactly match what you chose on the FedEx site.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the quick response . . .

I have double and triple checked every setting I can find, and am still getting the same discrepant answers.

Tech support guy told me had heard something like this but could not find any details. He tipped me off that UPS is rock solid and I did confirm this.

Any more ideas?
Thanks.

FedEx rates returned are based on your FedEx Account Number, so it may be you're getting a discount or a higher rate depending on your packaging type. If your weight for for the product is correct (i.e. 8 ounces = 0.5 pounds, etc...), your FedEx ship from zipcode is correct, your products do not have dimensions set which force separate packages, and your not using a flag like residential delivery, etc... then it should match up with FedEx realtime rates.

If not, your host should be able to help you troubleshoot this by checking your settings, your weights, etc... and comparing those to fedex.com generic rates as a baseline.

We have many clients using realtime FedEx in ShopSite without any issues. Also make sure you're running the latest v10 r7.1 version of ShopSite.

FedEx shopsite calculation differs from Fedex site calc

Postby Steve.Horste » Wed Mar 18, 2009 4:59 pm

Hi Rob,

I have checked all this and still get the discrepancy. I am using the same account on the FedEx site and Shopsite so not sure why they should be different.

What is important about Shopsite 10? (I am using 9.0.4.1)

I was told by support at Verio that Shopsite 10 was not available on Windows platforms.

Thanks for your help.

Are you putting the price of the products in on the FedEx site?
