Site map error.

Postby RedSyntax » Thu Mar 05, 2009 7:06 am

I've posted on this before, I don't remember getting a reply.
Anyway, google is still complaining about the sitemap having errors. So i plugged the url string into a validation website and determined yes there is an error.

I am going to adjust the offending line by hand and will keep you posted.

You must have fixed it already because that link currently says your sitemap is valid. Can you please post the details of the error it reported previously?

The site map fix

Postby RedSyntax » Thu Mar 05, 2009 10:35 am

yes i did fix it. apparently there were special characters in the site map xml. I removed them and all was fine.

its interesting because that's the same reason i can't get the xml upload/downloader api to work special characters in the xml.

What special characters? And are they there because you have those characters in your page filenames?

As this stands.

The special characters aren't in our data they enter the database after a page is published. I have seen this happen in real time. I cannot for the life of me get an xml reader object in asp.net to read the xml and expand the entities and then attach this this expanded xml to a dataset.
