Inventory Tracking in Manager

Postby Chriscas » Wed Feb 18, 2009 5:22 pm

Hi,

I'm in the process of setting up my Shopsite store in Manager and am wondering how to activate the inventory tracking feature. I see a button for it but there doesn't seem to be a place where I can enter data as to the number of products I have on hand for starters, how many sold, etc. Is this feature only available in Shopsite Pro, and, if so, is there a workaround I can implement with Manager?

I'm not very tech-savvy, but would appreciate any help you can give me on this. My other alternatives are to do a hand-count inventory or purchase a separate invoice program to track quantities available after orders. I hope I can avoid these options. Thanks for your help and your time.

Sincerely,

Chris Castagnoli

The Inventory Tracking feature is only in ShopSite Pro. Where do you see a button for it in Manager?

It's under Store Preferences. It has fields for store-wide inventory tracking, low stock notification, out of stock notification, etc. (But, as you say, no place for entering data of stock on hand.)

If you have the Inventory Tracking option under Preferences, then you have ShopSite Pro, not ShopSite Manager.

The individual products' inventory settings are in the 'Inventory Tracking' section of each products' Edit Product Info menu. There are three fields per product.

1) The 'Quantity on Hand' field to indicate the current quantity of the item

2) The 'Low Stock threshold' to indicate if you want to receive an email notification when the Quantity on Hand reached this amount (leave it blank or do not configure the Low Stock email settings in Preferences -> Inventory Tracking if you do not want to receive a low stock email)

3) The 'Out of Stock Limit' field to indicate at what point the Quantity on Hand can reach before the shopping cart will no longer allow that product to be purchased. If you do not want purchased of this product stopped, even when the Quantity on Hand number goes negative, then leave this field blank.
