I saw a similar post but it was back in 2007 so maybe this is now resolved.
We sell an item that comes in four colors (attribute) but they are all tied to the master product SKU. Makes for trouble when importing into quickbooks - reporting on what colors are ordered.
For the customers sake, we'd rather not create unique item #'s for each color - so, is there a workaround when a customer selects a color, it then changes the SKU?
we are running V.10 Pro.
thanks

No, you can't change the sku based on an order option. The best thing to do is make individual products each with their own sku. You can then create a custom template to have a main product that is the major item and have all related items to it as a subproduct. There is a sample either in the help or in posts to the forum showing how this is done. This then allows you to keep track of each product's inventory by sku and color/size etc.
