For some reason, when we upload an image through the back office, even though it is not meant to be a product but rather a page banner, the image is automatically resized. I removed the configurations but keeping checking back and its still doing it.
If you ftp them and then add them as a banner on the page all is well. If you upload that same image using ShopSite and add it to a page as a banner the size is much smaller even though all the configuration is removed.
A novice end user should not have to upload images to a cart with FTP (ie the client that we are creating the site for that is not a web person).
What is the cause?

The only reason an image would be resized by ShopSite is if the configuration is set to do that. Make sure that on the Images > Configure screen you don't have the option
"If needed, reduce image on upload to:" set to a specific value. That is the only reason I can think of that would cause the images to be resized if you have not particularly specified to create the resized images on on the Upload image screen.
