Trying to access shopsite Orders via XML

Postby shaiss » Tue Aug 05, 2008 1:32 pm

I use this link to download my orders:
https://www.mysitehere.com/shopbo/db_xm ... ame=orders

However when I due that. Two things happen.
1. I get a cgi response that the database is being access and to try later.
2. The xml orders download starts but takes about 10min to download.

The actual orders.db on the server is 3MB and the server is on the same network as my development platform.

So my question is how is the DB being accessed when I'm the only one running the xml command or accessing shopsites backend?

And 2, why is the XML file taking sooo long to download?

I'm using shopsite 7.1

Thanks everyone for the help!

1) if you don't wait for the first download process to complete before you try it again, then that other process is probably still running in the background, give it enough time to complete before you try it again.

2) The URL you gave didn't show a startorder parameter or any other parameters that would limit the orders that are downloaded, so it would download ALL of your order data. Note that in v7.1 the order data is in two files, orders.db and orders.p.db. It would probably go faster if 1) you got a faster server or hosting account, 2) you limited the orders downloaded via the parameters available, and 3) you upgraded to a newer version of ShopSite.

Thanks for the reply. Thats a possible option. However the webserver is plenty fast so I dont think thats the issue. I can download all the orders via the shopsite interface fine. I think its just an issue with shopsite 7.1

Hopefully we can upgrade soon to 8 as it uses sqlite. Then I can just interface with the db directly and not have to rely on http calls and cgi.
