Customizable surcharge

Postby sfwind » Mon Aug 04, 2008 4:49 pm

Hi all,

I am trying to figure out how to add a setup fee for a service we are trying to offer. For imprinting services there is a setup fee for matching color, setup the machine etc, but it should only be applied once and I would like to have the option to wave it. For example:
For 1 piece, $50 setup fee plus $50
For 2-4, $50 setup fee plus $38/each
For 5-10 wave the setup fee and $29/each

I can do the price breakdown using variable pricing, but have a hard time dealing with the setup fee. I don't know how to mandate the $50 if this service is ordered. Once I can add a $50 setup fee it is still per order for this service and not $50 for each products ordered. It would be great if in the shopping cart I can show "Setup fee $50" and the next line "Credit $50" or something like that.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

ShopSite Pro stores have a surcharge option on Commerce Setup > Order System > Shopping cart. That will allow you to charge a surcharge for an entire order but there is no way to set it so that it would be removed based on how many products they purchase.

You might look at quantity pricing and include the setup fee in the base price. In ShopSite 9 you can have quantity pricing groups that allow you to aggregate items for the quantity discount. That might work for this.

Thanks Jim,

Would it be possible to apply a surcharge for a certain type of product only? For example when someone order imrinting services from us I apply a surcharge of $50, but not if the customer orders other type of products.

The quantity pricing only works in this case if the surcharge is sliding scale also and applies to each products ordered.

Thanks,

No, the global surcharge would be applied to each order.

I'm not sure what else could be done.

What I came up with so far is use a coupon to give the customer a $50 discount when they order more than 5 of this service. Now I just have to figure out how to add the setup feel in the first place. :-)

Maybe a product enhancement for the next release.... Surcharge based on individual product which works with quatity pricing.

Thanks for your help.
