Product Image Size

Postby FlaGatorMan » Sat Jul 19, 2008 9:19 am

Im a bit confused on how this works....

I have loaded all my images and they are all different sizes. I thought Shopsite 9.0 is suppose to resize these images and force them to display at the dimensions that have been setup in SS. Im using the modern template and I want all my images to be forced to 150 x 150.

Am I understanding this process wrong? Isnt SS suppose to resize these images based upon what Ive configured in the Image portion of the SS setup?

Please help !

There are a couple of options for resizing.
1. You can have ShopSite resize images as you upload them so that they do not exceed a specific height or width that you set. This would be the 150 x 150 you mention. Note that it will resize so that the image will fit in a box that size and it won't change the aspect ratio so if you upload a 200x300 image and ask for it to be resized to 150x150 it will end up 100x150 to maintain the aspect ratio. The setting for doing this is on the Image Configuration screen where you specify the size and a checkbox to indicate you want the uploaded original size changed.

2. You can have ShopSite create 3 resized version of a larger image. These images will be used in place of the normal image depending on what you select for the image size option on the screen where you select the image. This size selection is available for Product graphic, More info graphic, shopping cart and search . In order to use the appropriate image size you must select the size you want when you choose the image.

3. If you upload images by ftp then you must use the Create Resized Images on the Image screen before the images can be used. (I.E. it isn't done on the fly, the image must exist for it to be displayed).

4. If you upload images by ftp and you want the original resized you must go to Images > browse and select the image > Edit Images and use the Resize to: option to get the original image to the size you want it to be.

Gator, I'm using the same template and has the same problem you have. Have you solved the problem. If so great. If not I have a great solution after several weeks of searching. I won't spend the time yet typing it all out if you found a solution so let me know if you still need help.
