Customer Sorts Page Layout

Hey all,
Newbie here, I've read through the shopsite help and resource center and done some searching on the web without a solution. I'm trying to place some sort of form select that gives the customer the options to sort products alphabetically, by price, etc.. on a page. Anybody know how to do this?

This can't be done on standard ShopSite generated store pages because they are static not dynamic.

In Version 9.0 a feature was added to the search results that does allow sorting based on
Relevance
Price: Low to High
Price: High to Low
Alphabetical: A to Z
Alphabetical: Z to A

If this can be done in the Search page, why can't it be done for the Sub category pages. There must be a way around this...

It can be done on search pages because those are dynamically generated (Essentially the page is published when the search is done) when the shopper does a search.

It can't be done on regular store pages because those are static html pages (published and stored on the server waiting to be displayed) which can't be changed when they are viewed.
