UPS real time rates question

Postby 88man1 » Fri Jun 20, 2008 8:16 am

Right now I configure my own shipping based on weight. I am interested in changing over and using the UPS real time rates feature. My questions are:

1. For those that currently use UPS real time rates in their shopsite cart, has it been reliable?
2. I process my shopsite orders manually. Will the UPS real time feature work ok processing orders this way?
3. Do you have a choice on which services are available? For example if I don't even want to offer UPS RED (next day air) can I exclude that?

thanks

We've used it for a year and have had no significant problems.
1. Reliable, yes.
2. Yes
3. Yes

We have been getting small difference when we generate UPS labels on our "ups computer" where the rate might be 25 cents different or something like than.

We also have issues with the commerical vs. residential rates as Shopsite does not allow the shopper to specify if each shipping address is residential or commercial so we end up with pages of corrections by UPS on our UPS bill. Usually it balances out with charges and credits.

We have been very pleased with the UPS integration. Since all it brings back is residential pricing, it's not too much of an issue for us (since residential is more). When we print labels we have the opportunity to uncheck the "residential" box before submitting the shipment. If we notice that it's going to a business address, we'll uncheck it.
