Drill Down

With 20,000 + products in some sites, finding products is becoming difficult. We wrote some of our own simple power search script with essentially passes values to the existing shopsite productsearch.cgi search routine via a POST and ACTION. Now many big sites have sophisticated drill down drops down boxes.. For example "Category" "Brand" "Price Range" and so on... Using a simple search box is no longer realistic
Can this be implemented in shopsite and how or any other suggestions? It looks like many packages out there will do this.
