Getting message when using USPS shipping module

Postby FlaGatorMan » Mon May 26, 2008 7:53 am

We are getting this error message on the actual customer site...

USPS Message: An XML response was not returned from USPS.

I went thru the steps to configure and there were no issues with that from what I could tell.

I'm getting the same error. Did you figure it out or does anyone know how to fix this?

That message would indicate that USPS could not be contacted or took too long to return a rate. This would probably indicate a problem with the connection between your server and the USPS server or a misconfiguration so the connection is not being competed.

Our hosting company had no reported issues with USPS. Still getting this error after all this time.

Try re-registering with USPS or at least try resetting all of the configuration setting for it. We haven't had other reports of problems with it from other users.

I was experiencing the same issue. One possible solution: make sure you call the phone number in the email USPS sends to you when you register your account and make it "active". Until you call that number and do so you will definitely receive the XML response error.

Once I made the account active with USPS the error disappeared immediately. And don't worry about the "testing" they ask you to do in the email; ShopSite already has the XML gateway set up and working for you so you shouldn't have to worry about testing that it works for you personally.
