Check out problem with Firefox

Postby fscharfenorth » Wed Mar 12, 2008 9:27 pm

Hi,
I created a website with Shopsite and once I got the hang of how the templates work I really enjoyed using it.
But I ran into a problem I can't seem to solve.
When I go to the checkout with Internet Explorer I can checkout fin, the order is placed and shows up as a new order in the admin tool - and the customer gets the order summary.
If I do the same with Firefox - and hit submit order the startpage of the website loads - and when I click on "view cart" all products are still in the cart and the checkout didn't work.
Another odd thing is - and maybe it is related?! - the coding for all the different buttons (add to cart, view cart, continue shopping etc.) all works fine - until you go to the checkout page - there the path to the graphics is for some strange reason different and the images can't be found.
The images within the online shop are under:

http://[accountname].accountsupport.com/store/media/

and on the checkout page the path changes to:

https://shopsite.accountsupport.com/ss8 ... ges/media/

which seems like a global default path that the webhost setup (the site is hosted at ipower.com).

Has anyone had similar problems? Any idea why the checkout works with IE and not with Firefox?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

When you go from the first shopping cart screen to the billing address screen the store switches from non-secure url to a secure url. That is why you see the different url path.

The reason that Firefox takes you from the billing screen to your main store page is a bug in Firefox that it will not submit a form if there is a broken/missing image for the submit button. Since it doesn't know how to submit the form it takes you back to the main url for your store.

The two issues are probably related in that your secure url is not configured properly to display the secure button image so the button image is broken and Firefox can't deal with that. The fix is simple just have your host fix the secure url so it points to the same image location as what the non-secure url is pointing to. That will allow the button to display properly and then Firefox will be able to handle the form correctly.

Hi,
Thank you for the quick reply. I will contact the host tomorrow - their customer support is really terrible and they will probably deny any wrong doing and probably don't even know how to fix that path.
Which webhost would you recommend for hosting a Shopsite website?
Thanks again - I will keep you posted.

Have a good night.

Since I work for ShopSite it wouldn't be fair to our partners to recommend one over another. However, this same question has been asked before on this forum and there have been lots of replies to the question. If you do a search (button is top center of the screen) and use the term "best host" you can bring up a number of posts on the subject. Read through them and you will find what others are reporting about their host.
