Uploading products problem

When uploading products in either comma or tab delimited files, The product name, description and other fields are enclosed by parentheses ("). Is this a problem with shopsite or am I saving the files incorrectly.

Using Microsoft Excel and saving as comma & tab delimited files. Using older shopsite version 7.
