Sku not being searched

I have the SKU box checked in shopsite preferences but for some reason when I do a search on my website it does not return anything for SKU's for products that I know I have. Any Ideas?

Do you have SKU set as an indexed field under Preferences > Search Settings > Search Indexing? If your SKUs are numbers do you have Index numbers checked on the same screen?
