General opinions wanted about Shopping.com, Amazon.com etc

Postby VinceS » Mon Nov 26, 2007 5:12 pm

I'd like to hear from anyone who has joined sites like Shopping.com, Amazon.com etc. Has it been a success or failure? Are the costs (commissions) offset by volume? How were your products uploaded to the various sites? Are there other sites I should be looking at?

Thanks in advance for any info.

While we personally don't use them, our customers do. Posting on shopping.com will generate a lot of clicks, but often doesn't convert well. Also you have to deposit $700 with them to open an account.

Amazon.com charges 12% on all orders, which is a big cut if you are only taking 15-20% to begin with.

On the ppc end, sites like Pricerunner, buyersedge, pronto and become are good because they typically produce better conversion rates (less competition).

Also checkout Jellyfish, Underbid, SortPrice and other pay per sale sites that focus on pay per sale, or sortprice which has unlimited clicks for a monthly fee. Hope that helps!
