Image size in searches

I can not seem to find a way to modify the size of the images that come up when a seach is preformed. It is bringing up the original image size and the medium or small resized images would work better. Can anyone tell me where I can set this variable? I did look at the search template but saw nothing about image size. Thank you.

Preferences -> Search Settings -> Search Layout, the setting labeled 'Use Resized Product Images'.
