ShopSite UPS Rates differ from in-house UPS Software rates

Postby Rick Hendrickson » Tue Oct 16, 2007 10:21 am

We are running ShopSite 8.3 on a Windows 2003 server. We have configured ShopSite shipping with our UPS account to give the end user an accurate UPS rate. We are also running the WorldShip 9.0 (latest version) software from UPS in our shipping department. The WorldShip software also integrates with UPS via our account number and gives us accurate shipping charges. However, on an itentical package our WorldShip software gives us a dollar amount several dollars lower then the ShopSite checkout. We are using a handling charge on our products in ShopSite but we have removed that as well as taxes to eliminate possible culprits.

Rick,

Some other things that you could check are:

* if you have specified dimensions for any of your products. If dimensions are specified, it is assumed that product is shipping by itself, and the rates are calculated accordingly.
(Products > Edit Product Info)

* if you are shipping residential or commercial. The rates are going to be different depending on which option you have selected within ShopSite.
(Commerce Setup > Shipping > Configure UPS).

* the pick up type you have specified within ShopSite. Some of the pick up types will increase the price.
(Commerce Setup > Shipping > Configure UPS)

* you mentioned that you have removed the handling charges associated with your products. There are two handling charge options within ShopSite, handling charges per product (Products > Edit Product Info) and handling charges for the whole order (Commerce Setup > Shipping). You would want to make sure they are both off.
