Add text entry box on product page, how?

I am using shopsite manager.

I sell engraved tags and need to have the customer enter text for both sides of the tags.

I would like this text box to appear with the product, and each product needs one. How do I do this?

I have drop down boxes for size, color working fine.
I just don't see how to put a text box in.
The text box is in the shopping cart during checkout but customers may order more than 1 tag with different information.

I think I am just missing something basic!!

There is not currently an default option to add the Customer Text Entry field to the store pages, so to do it you would have to create a custom product template where you build the add to cart form (see this example in the documentation: http://www.shopsite.com/templates/examp ... tions.html) so that you can also insert a form field like this into the add to cart form:

<textarea name="[-- PRODUCT.Recordnumber --]:freeopt" rows="3" cols="40">

Of course you still have to have the Customer Text Entry field checkbox checked for the product, or else submitting this field to the shopping cart will have no effect.

I will give this a try. In the mean time I think I will just use the text entry on the shopping cart page.

I have to learn some more html and I need to get the site working before that will happen
