Publish button does not appear

Postby geeek » Tue Aug 07, 2007 8:03 am

We have had a great experience with ShopSite until recently upgrading to a new primary laptop for our business. Since the new laptop, as we work with ShopSite 8 we encounter several oddities. A couple of the primary concerns are that the Publish button does not appear after a product or page edit, and product assignments to pages "disappear" after successfully seeing them on the live site.

Specific to the Publish behavior, our workaround has been to regenerate the entire site, which of course is quite a brute force approach. Perhaps this is related to the inconsistent state of our pages?

My primary suspicion (of course!) is IE7. This laptop was the first time we have used IE7, and if I use an older laptop with IE6 to manage our store none of these problems occur.

Are we seeing known issues, and should I revert the new laptop back to IE6?

Thanks!

Simple solution- Install firefox and dump IE 7. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

There is probably some setting in IE7 that is caching pages so it never reloads a page once it has been opened during the current session. Check under Tools > Internet Options > Browsing History > settings > Temporary Internet files

i have the same trouble in firefox. however, the map area is still there, so i can click where the Publish button should be and it works fine. you might want to check if this is possible. regenerating every time is a pain, especially if you're up in the thousands of pages like we are.

Clicking where the publish images should be will make it work if you need to do a partial publish.

My next guess is that some firewall setting you have is preventing loading the page more than once.
