https image links, digital certificate question

Postby ckm1966 » Thu Aug 02, 2007 5:57 am

I am using a shared certificate on verio hosting with shopsite pro.

I am having real issues with the error message that the name on the cert does not match the domain name. (By the way, I did search high and low for information before posting.)

Per the interface:

SSL Security Settings
Check the SSL options below only if you have a Web server that supports Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol, and you have purchased a certificate from a valid certificate authority. Remember to put in the proper URL for the certificate your secure server supports.

Does the above mean if I am using a shared cert I should check nothing?

Use SSL security in Shopping Cart
Shopping Cart secure URL:
Secure Store URL:

Use SSL security in ShopSite (Merchant Interface)
ShopSite secure URL:
ShopSite Images secure URL:

Obviously then I have two options (assuming I should check the box of course)

https://mydomainname.com

OR

https://weirdsharedcerturl.com

OR
http://weirdsharedcerturl.com

I have tried all sorts of combinations but nothing makes the error message go away - which subsequently means if the consumer chooses not to show the unsecured items NONE of the pictures show save the butotns.

Any thoughts?

You do want SSL security to be checked in ShopSite so your customers have a secure shopping cart. You want to set the SSL URL's to the shared SSL certificate path your host has provided.

Also, any image calls, js calls that you make on your secure pages should be called securely through the shared SSL path as well to avoid any warnings.
