queries?

i have just joined a company doing some development for them. i have programming experience, but this is my first go with SS.

what i'd like to do is create a few queries based on price point and product type to list on the right side of the page.

for instance, the customer decided to click on accessories in the main navigation, and then on widgets. we have 136 different widgets by 8 different manufacturers, priced between $.99 and $384.99.

is there a way for me to query the data, just like the search function seems to be doing (remember, this is day one in SS for me) and ask it to return a search based on the products page currently displayed and then in increments like

$.00 to $99.99
$100.00 to $199.99
$200.00 to $299.99
$300.00 to $399.99
