UPS Shipping Charges Incorrect

Postby ChuckPike » Tue Jul 17, 2007 7:05 pm

It seems as if ShopSite Pro is not sending UPS the correct weight. The problem appears to be related to unit weights using decimal places, specifically when 1000 pieces of an item with a unit weight of 0.001 is sent to UPS a very high (> $60 ) UPS Ground charge is estimated. Has anyone experienced anything like this. I am using Pure Host as my hosting company.

There was a bug in ShopSite where it would round weights to hundreths of a pound in versions 8.2 or earlier. Reference:

Not sure if this is still the case in 8.3 or not.

Rounding Error

Postby ChuckPike » Wed Jul 18, 2007 10:36 am

If it was a rounding issue, I would expect 0.001 to be rounded to 0.00 and the result would be low UPS shipping rates not high shipping rates. I think something else is going on. I am not getting anywhere with Pure Host.

Ask your host to open a support case with ShopSite, so that they can work together to figure out the problem. Also, if it is indeed rounding it to 0.00, your minimum product weight setting in the UPS settings is probably kicking in. Try setting the weight to 0.006 and see if that helps.

Only 2 Decimal Places?

Postby ChuckPike » Wed Jul 18, 2007 12:19 pm

I received the following explaination from ShopSite:

"For weights, you would only be able to enter 2 decimal places. ShopSite
does not allow more then that when entering weights for products."

I am using version 8.3.

Is anyone out there successfully using 3 or more decimal places.
