Google Analytics

Hello:

I installed Google Analytics on our site. Ok, I used the wizard built into Shopsite. Pretty easy.

I then went into our Ad words account and setup a profile for that site. Made sure that ecommerce transaction tracking was turned on. It was by default.

I put in some orders and checked the source code of our pages to make sure the google code was on there. It was. Check the last page in check out and saw that it had the appropriate code.

The one stumbling block has been setting up the funnel. I understand how to set it up and what pages are in the funnel.

But the problem is the urls for the funnel.

The first page of the funnel (which I am guessing is the page you would see after dropping the first item in the basket, is:

http://www.cycleluggage.com/cgi-cyclelu ... /order.cgi

The second page is:

https://www.cycleluggage.com/cgi-cyclel ... ...........
But of course after the storeid= is a lengthy line of characters which I think would change with each order.

The third page is

https://www.cycleluggage.com/cgi-cyclel ... ankyou.cgi

The final page is,

https://www.cycleluggage.com/cgi-cyclel ... ankyou.cgi

The last two pages share the same url.

So, I would be curious if:

Anyone has setup their funnel and if so, what pages they listed as the defined funnel. Also, any recommendations as to what urls to use.

Thanks

Hi,

We have been using the funnel for a month or so, it seems to be working properly. These are the pages I pointed it to:

Goal URL (final page): .../thankyou.cgi

Page 1 (shopping cart): .../order.cgi
Page 2 (checkout page): .../billing.cgi (nothing after it)
Page 3 (confirmation page): .../thankyou.cgi

I don't know if the data is getting skewed or mis-represented with the same URL being used twice, but it isn't causing any problems. The other steps are more informative anyway IMO. If someone leaves after entering their address and CC info, but before finalizing, not really much you can do about that.

There is an option to eliminate the middle "Confirmation Page" and have the order placed immediately after the customer enters all info, if you want to have your site work that way.

Hope this helps.
