how do I change index.html folder ?

Postby curo » Fri Jun 08, 2007 8:42 am

Hello everybody
I hope that you'll understand me beause my English speaking is really bad.

My problem is that my homepage (index.html) folder is Mywebsite.com/store/index.html and I'd like it to be like that Mywebsite.com/index.html so users can access it by typing Mywebsite.com in their browser.
I'm sure this question is trivial but I've searched the forum and didn't find any answer.

Thanks in advance for your help

You'll need a new ShopSite license file with Mywebsite.com as the licensed URL instead of Mywebsite.com/store, and a few other configuration changes. Talk to your host/ShopSite reseller about this. More info in the ShopSite Knowledgebase at:

ok, thank you very much for quick answer.

If I understand well, I have to ask to my Shopsite reseller to send me an other mywebsite.auth license file with Mywebsite.com instead of Mywebsite.com/store.
Your link also says that I can't edit the Mywebsite.auth file manually.

Maybe I can create a simple index.html page in Mywebsite.com folder redirecting to my existing store located at Mywebsite.com/store but I'm not sure it's professional and maybe I will have problems for referencing.

I think that my second method is more easy ; what do you recommend me ?

Thank you very much for your good help.

If you want to go the new auth route your reseller/host should do the replacement and configuration changes for you, you shouldn't have to do it yourself.

ok, thanks a lot for your help.
I'm going to have it changed by my host.

I have one last question : is there an existing link where we can see the shopsites created by the users ?
I'd like to see some of the forumrs creations.

One way to see ShopSite stores is by searching the ShopSite marketplace:

http://marketplace.shopsite.com/index.html

Of course anyone can sign their store up for the marketplace via their ShopSite backoffice, so they are not just stores of those that post on the forums (i.e. not all of them will look as nice as the custom ones some people are capable of making).

Forum users have the ability to specify their website URL in their forum profile and if they do each post they make will have a little 'www' icon that you can click on to see their site, but in my experience not very many forum posters do this (I don't know why, seems like it would be good exposure for their site).

Thank you very much for quick and quality response.
