Symbolic Links ?

Postby bbrandriff » Sun Mar 04, 2007 2:41 pm

I just applied the patches for the latest version of Linux.

It seems when the patches are uploaded it breaks the symlinks .

Is this a possibility , since the uploading can't add products to the cart.

Thanks,
Barry

Not possible, unless you did something else that you shouldn't have done while uploading the patch files to your server. There are many people by now who have had the patches applied to their stores without any issues.

The only current patch file that even has anything to do with symbolic links is libsscommon.so.1, which should be replaced in the ShopSite CGI Directory (usually this directory is called 'ss' or 'bo'), because the one in the other cgi directory is a symbolic link to this one. But even if you uploaded it to the Shopping Cart CGI Directory instead, thereby overwriting the libsscommon.so.1 symlink that is there, it shouldn't break ordering (more likely would be that it would break some backoffice functionality if you hadn't also uploaded this file there).

So a more likely issue for you could be that the files you uploaded don't have proper file permissions, or they were corrupted at some point during your FTP, or they are not the right files for your version of ShopSite.
