Order confirmation page showing asterisks for Purchase Order

On the order confirmation page the PO Number shows asterisks. Any ideas?

If you are using one of the generic payment options under:
Commerce Setup -> Payment

Make sure the field is not marked to be masked, as this will *** the display on the receipt page.
