Has Paypal order handoff been fixed.

Has Shopsite fixed their Paypal interface yet. About 16 months ago ( Feb 05) Paypal changed their interface to shopping carts. We shopsite users first lost all Paypal ability ( at least I did). After a few days, SS came up with a fix.. Pretty fast response to the initial problem. I really appreciated that.
But part of the PayPal change and the ShopSite response caused SS to hand off customer transations to Paypal and NOT KEEP A COPY OF IT available to us common users.
Then, IF paypal properly completes the transaction, they attempt to hand a flag back to SS. Once SS gets the flag, they miraculously revive the Once Dead order and hand it back to us Users.
The problem happens if Paypal fails. Our customers call 3 weeks later with a Paypal confirmation but we can't find their records in Shopsite. I bet it's still hiding out out there somewhere in /moreips or /ip, but last time I charged the problem SS techsupport told me it wasn't available.

Anyone know if they have fixed it yet..???

Note that significant enhancements dealing with PayPal, including support for the PayPal Website Payments Pro, were added to ShopSite versions 8.0 and 8.1 . You may want to consider upgrading to the latest version so you get all the new features. You can find details at:

Thanks for the reply. I am using 8.0.1. and I am still having the trouble.
My question still stands. Why wont Shopsite let me see the order details before ( or even in the absence of) a Paypal response...
Paypal swears that my trouble ( failure to get and match their approval with SS order) is my problem not theirs. ShopSite maintains ( or did last time I charged the windmill ) that it's a PAYPAL issue and I should address it with them.
So. What did Shopsite do with the order ? and why won't they let me see it.?

Which PayPal method are you using?
If you are using the "PayPal Website Payments Standard" method then it relies on a call back from PayPal (Instant Payment Notification or IPN) to indicate that payment as been received by PayPal. The word "Instant" is used in a very liberal sense here since the notification may be instantaneous if the person pays with funds from their PayPal account or may take a couple of weeks if they pay by a check. When the final payment is received by PayPal they send out the IPN. If there is some kind of network interrupton where the IPN is not received by your store then the order may not be finalize. PayPal repeats the IPN a few times if this happens in an attempt to complete the transaction. If for some reason it is not possible to for your server to receive the IPN the order won't display in the backoffice. There have been very few reports of this issue since PayPal made there changes to fix the problem back in Feb of 2005. A fix was made in ShopSite 8.1 to handle a potential issue where the cgi receiving the IPN might crash and PayPal would think that the IPN had been received successfully but it had not. Perhaps this is what you are seeing so you might want to upgrade to 8.1 to see if that fixes the problem.

ShopSite implemented the PayPal Website Payments Pro (Express Checkout and Direct Payment API) method when it became available from PayPal back in July of 2005 in ShopSite 8.0. The PayPal Website Payments Pro method uses a direct connection between ShopSite and PayPal and does not use IPNs to indicate when an order is completed. So with this method it is possible to have the orders in the backoffice showing a Pending status before the actual payment has been received by PayPal. You might want to consider switching from the classic PayPal method to the PayPal Website Payments Pro. PayPal Payments Standard is not resolved

I find the method Shopsite uses for Paypal Standard to be unacceptable. I have the exact problem this person does and it has now happened twice in six months (ver 8.3). Blame PayPal if you want, but the order does not show in Shopsite and that is not PayPal's fault, that is Shopsites decision to not show the order until some sort of acknowledgement is received. If it never comes or is lost somehow you will never see the order and have to call the customer to get order information, boy does that make you look stupid. Our first order (6/2/2007) never appeared and I doubt the second (11/13/2007) ever will since Paypal has the order marked as cleared.

My customer (the ShopSite owner) is furious and I don't blame them, they pay over $1000/year for a product that won't show orders and no way for me to resolve it for them. Telling me to get Paypal Pro is not the answer, showing the order as pending is. We are intelligent enough to determine whether the payment was made and valid.

If I am missing something here or there has been a resolution posted that I somehow missed I apologize.
