There is no way to adjust the size of the search form input box if you are
using a built-in template or a custom template with the ShopSite tag [--
SEARCH_FORM --]. However, if you put the search on a page, view the source
code, and copy the <FORM> section for the search, you can then hardcode this
into a custom template or page text field and then you can set the size to
whatever you'd like.

The problem with this solution is that when there is an upgrade in Shopsite, the link for the form changes (eg, had 8.0 within it, and now has 8.1 in it), so in each page template, or more information page, this URL will have to be updated whenever there is a shopsite update.

Unless of course it's only my hosting company that provides a URL with the Shopsite version number in it.

Wezza007,

That's specific to your host.

FYI, in ShopSite 9 there is an option to change the size of the box. It will take affect in Templates/Themes that have been updated to use this new feature. To set it go to Preferences >> Search Settings >> Search Layout, then modify the "Search Field:"

But I want to resize the search boxes found on pages outsize my "search results page" Any suggestion. If i try the solution proposed by copy and pasting the form the store id value won't be unique to the page any more. these serach boxes are on more info pages too...btw

The storeid is an encrypted value that changes each time it is generated but any one of the encrypted values could be hard coded into a form. They are not specific to a particular page. The same code could be put into the page template and the more information section of the product template.
