Flushing old shopping carts

Hi,

We just raised the price on a number of our products (same sku, just a price increase). However we just had an order come through with the old price. My only explanation is the customer had the item in their cart at the lower price. And then after the price increase, placed the order which allowed it to come through at the lower price. Can this happen?

Is there anyway to invalidate all existing carts forcing customers to add the product again and getting the updated price?

You configure how long shopping carts are kept before being deleted on Commerce Setup > Order System > Shopping Cart in the field "Keep unfinished shopping carts: ". The default value is 7 days. You could set it down to 1 day to clear them the day after they are created.
Edit: Yes the scenario you mention can happen. Once an item is added to the shopping cart the price does not change on that item in the cart. This is just like would happen if you were shopping in a brick and mortar store and picked up an item and took it to the cash register and they wanted to charge you more than the price that is on the tag on the item.

What version of ShopSite is your store currently running?
In the latest version of ShopSite the price may be checked when the shopper tries to checkout. If the price has changed they will get a message at the top of the cart saying that the price has changed.

Is there a setting to force the price to be checked again when the customer tries to checkout?

We will reduce the shopping cart days to 1 for now also. Thanks again for the help.
