Google CheckOut with UPS Live Quote is not working

Postby therealdeal » Sat Jul 07, 2007 4:24 pm

I use UPS live quote for my shipping method. I selected google checkout and configured it.

I added merchandise to cart and clicked on Google checkout. I do not see the zipcode field for a shipping quote. When I click on google, shipping is $999.99.

I have the pro 8.3 version. Does any one got google checkout to work?

Google gives a limited amount of time (3 seconds I think) by default to get all the shipping options and costs returned to them after the initial contact from ShopSite. If the server your store is on has network difficulties or is overloaded with processes the response may not be quick enough. In that case the default value of 999.99 is displayed to indicate that the shipping rates are not valid. Note that the allotted time includes Google checking back with the server hosting your ShopSite for the shipping options and prices and the time that it takes to contact UPS and have them return the options and the time it takes your ShopSite server to return the rates to Google.

I'm on a dedicated server and I don't think its the load.

When I enable google checkout, the zipcode field disappears. How can shopsite calculate customer shipping when there is no option for them to enter it.

That is a requirement of Google- No shopper address information may be collected before the shopper goes to Google Checkout- so that includes the ZipCode.

Once the shopper is on the Google Checkout site they give their address information and Google calls back to ShopSite to get the shipping options and prices. ShopSite then has to contact the shipping carrier for rates and returns them to Google Checkout.
