Adding Product To Shopping Cart

How do you set up the site so that when clients place items in the cart they
do not immediately get the shopping cart page every time. I want them to add
products to the cart and when done adding all the items hit the CART link on
any page to check out. That way each time they add products to the cart they
get the page they were just on not the cart page. Presently if you want 5
items you see the cart page 5 different times and must leave it each time to
go back to shopping. Where to you change this in the back office?

Commerce Setup -> Order System -> Shopping Cart

'Default for the "Show me my shopping cart" checkbox' <-- uncheck
'Do not display the the "Show me my shopping cart" check box' <-- uncheck

If you currently have a shopping cart in progress, you will need to
Empty Cart first before you see your new setting take effect.

OK,
That worked just fine. Does anyone have any experience in
experimenting with setting a site up to immediately move clients into the
cart every time they add a product and not moving them to the cart until
they press the SHOW CART button? I am curious as to what the public prefers.

We have moved a customer into their cart every time they added an item for
several years without complaints or issues.

I wonder if Jakob Nielsen (useability consultant and author) or Steve Krug
("Dont' Make Me Think!") has any words of wisdom on this issue. I doubt if
they follow this forum, but someone who does may have their latest books
that may address this.
