Problems - Indexing, Products

I've attempted an upgrade from 6.3.1 to 7.1.4 AND 7.0.5 on one of my
sites, with the same disappointing results. Had to import the products
and pages dbs as the existing dbs were all messed up thru the upgrade,
no products on pages. After import the pages regen runs fine, but
indexing chokes. Cannot edit products using Edit Product Info or Edit
Product Layout - but can with Power Edit. Repeated .txt upload attempts
of products were unsucessful.

I also installed a 7.1.4 store new, imported dbs, same thing.

I have set up a test store, and will gladly provide user/pass and ftp
access to bo if anyone has a plan...

I've had problems previously bringing this data from 4 to 6. Shopsite
was involved and tweaked dbs, tho' I think I remember having to diddle
it a bit still by importing dbs directly or somesuch. Obviously, there
are db problems, but I have no clue as how to diagnose. There are 4084
product records, WAY to many to eyeball.

Any clues?

As far as no products on pages, this may happen if you do not upload
product first then pages. The actual product-to-page assignment exists
in the pages database, and on a download that is the only place you will
see it. So when you upload, you must do products first so that when you
subsequently upload pages, the products to assign the pages to will
already exist.

The problem with editing pages and products may not have anything to do
with the databases at all, it could have to do with bad image settings
when you installed the store. The edit screens generally list the
contents of the media/ subdirectory of your ShopSite output directory so
that you can select an image, however if there is a problem with
permissions, or broken symlinks, or the wrong path, or an image with a
really wacky filename, then it may not be able to load the list of
images and that may cause the edit screens to not work properly.
