able to complete order wtih invalid Zip Code

Hi folks,

We run ShopSite® Pro 12 sp3 r4. We have the shipping configured to use UPS, USPS and a custom addon (from Lexiconn). We have selected the option that if a shipping rate can not be calculated to Notify shopper to contact the merchant.

The other day we had an order come in that has an invalid ZIP code in it and no shipping was on the order. I'm not sure it always worked this way.

Was there a change in version 11 or 12 that changed how that worked?

We want to stop orders with invalid ZIP codes. In my testing, it appears to not even catch the fact the ZIP code is invalid.

Am I missing something or is there a problem?

My searching of the forum does not show me an answer.

Wondering if anybody has an update on this post? Lexiconn emailed me and they were looking into it, but the last I heard, they thought it was an ShopSite issue.

We are not aware of anything changing between ShopSite versions. Apparently, if the Shipping API returns success (e.g. it executed), even if there are no shipping options returned, ShopSite assumes that the order should proceed. We are looking at how, and if, we should modify this behavior.
