ShopSite USPS Shipping Quotes

Hello,

I have a customer who is using the USPS online tools through ShopSite to get shipping quotes. They feel that there is too much of a discrepancy between the quotes that ShopSite generates through the tool and when they bring the same products to the post office counter and get a shipping price.

Can someone tell me how it is supposed to work through ShopSite and if there should be any discrepancy between the online tools and the prices at the counter? We have weights and dimensions entered for every product but I still feel like it would never be the exact same price at the counter as it would through the tool but it should be very close no?

Any help/guidance/info would be much appreciated.

The quotes themselves are calculated by USPS' real time shipping API, they reference the ShopSite settings found in the Shipping help link below, along with the individually assigned product weight and dimensions settings (under Products> Edit Product Info> Shipping and Download Information>).
