Changing Pictures on a Page

Postby Jenny » Wed Jul 16, 2014 11:02 am

Our ShopSite store was set up years ago and at the time 200 x 200 pixel images seemed our best choice. We want to enlarge these pictures on this page to at least twice that size or more. The current jpgs we have cannot be enlarged. As I understand it we will need to set up a new directory for these photos and then edit them into the product via the Product/Edit Page Content function. Are there any other steps we should take to ensure that this page with the new photos publish correctly versus the page with the old photos. We will be sending our feed to the Google Merchant Center for Google Shopping and want to avoid any feed errors. Our store is V12r2.1 Manager. Our product template is Modern and our page template is Clean SST.

Thanks for your assistance.

You should be able to just upload the larger images with the same file name as the current images. Once you have done that go the Images screen and click the Reset All Attributes button at the bottom of the screen. That will update the sizes of the images so the next time you publish the larger size will be used. (Note that your browser may have the smaller image cached so you may have to force your browser to reload the pages.) If you are using the ShopSite resized image feature you may also have to select the images and use the Create Resized images button to recreate the smaller versions of the images.

The one issue that might occur doing this is if you have manually edited the attributes of any of the images to add specific parameters or non-default Alt tag text, those changes would be overwritten when you use the Reset All Attributes button. (This is done by going to Images > selecting an image > Click Edit Images > and change any of the settings.) Most merchants don't make any changes when they upload images so that may not be a problem for you.
