Update products programmatically?

I am new to shopsite and looking at setting up an app to publish new items to the product page. I was curious if anyone has already done this before or if you knew a way to upload a product list and refresh without having to go through the shopsite interface? Or if there are any apps to make this possible. I need to make the ability to add items to the site via smart phone as painless as possible.

It is possible to automate the uploading of products and pages using XML formatted data. See the on line documentation at http://shopsite.com/help/11.2/en-US/sc/pro/database.automated_XML_upload.html

That is exactly what I was looking for, thanks! I am surprised that no one has made an app to do this for iOS devices. Maybe when I am done, if there is interest, I'll share the app with the community.
