I need to setup a "private" store **Edited**

I need to make my store "private", meaning I need people to have to login before even seeing my store or any products. I have a small wholesale business and only retail stores will be accessing my wholesale store.

Being very new to shopsite I have yet to figure out how to accomplish this, can anyone help?

Ok, I posted before I did an adequate search I admit it. After searching I found the .htaccess method, but that just raised another question. Can the username and password submitted through the .htaccess method be passed on to shopsite to eliminate the "double" login?

With a .htaccess file, you cannot tie that into customer registration to eliminate the double login.
