Scansoft POS + SQL > Shopsite Pro?

Postby cacwoody » Fri Mar 01, 2013 7:37 pm

I'm trying to figure out if it is possible to transfer all or any of the data saved in scansoft POS, to my website.

I heard SQL is the solution, but I really don't know what that's all about. I looked into it a bit, but I want to find out if it is even feasible before I too much.

Here is a link to the system I use at work, http://www.scansoftpos.com/

Any help would be great and highly appreciated. Thank you in advance. - Cody

If you can export your product and page data in a tab or csv format, then you can import that information in to a ShopSite store. (orders can not be imported). Once you have your data exported, you load it into ShopSite by going to Utilities > Database > Upload. The upload format can be found in the online help at http://shopsite.com/help/11.2/en-US/sc/pro/upload.fields.html

Re: Different Pricing Categories for Different Customers?

Postby cacwoody » Mon Mar 04, 2013 10:50 pm

Thank you Jim for your help! Okay so I pretty much got what you told me to do, I just need to tweek the .csv a bit so that it matches up with shopsite fields.

Next order of business: Maybe it's possible, maybe it's not. I'm sure you'll be able to give me the right answer.

A bit of context: Some of our customers get discounts on products A-L, but don't get discounts on products M-Z.

We have ten pricing categories mixed and matched like this. The .csv file that I exported from Scansoft has ten prices for each product. Is there a way I can incorporate these ten prices into shopsite?

Best case scenario in my fantasy website would be for me to create user accounts for all of my customers, assign them to a particular pricing category, email them their login information, and let them have at it.

When they browse the website under their username, each product would have THEIR price listed.

This sounds too good to be true, and thus I feel it is not possible, but I sure hope I can achieve something to this effect if anything at all.

Thank you, Cody
