Changing domain names and Google checkout

Postby extragear » Fri May 04, 2012 7:49 am

Hello:

We intend to change the domain name for one of our websites. On the current URL we've had Google checkout setup for over a year. The domain we are changing to has never had a Google checkout account associated with it.

Both domains have been owned and in use for at least 5 years. Both are verified through webmaster tools and we are the original owners.

Searching for the answer to this I only find,

1. A reference that once the change is made, the Google Checkout badges might not appear until several transactions are conducted.

2. A reference to editing the url listed within Google checkout, see the following:

http://support.google.com/checkout/sell/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=40533

So, should we create a new Google Checkout account or just edit the current account. If its just editing, what changes are needing to be made?

Thanks
Tim

Probably just changing the url on Google's website would work, as long as it matches what you have configured in ShopSite.

If you are using Google Product search, you will want to make sure that you have the correct url configured for that in both your Google account settings and your ShopSite store. Google does check store urls against account settings and if they don't match they will not post your items in their search results.
